nMy work as a professional Outdoor Adventure Photographer takes me all around the world. I have been fortunate with the experience of seeing and photographing some of the most astounding and beautiful landscapes on our planet. Some of these landscapes are right out my front door. This show is a celebration of the place I live, and some of the landscapes that I do not have to travel far from home to reach.nn nnWithin hours driving of my home, I find all the elements for great photographs: Four distinct seasons, drastically varying environments and eco-systems within close proximity of each other, brilliant skies, dramatic weather, soaring mountains, sculpted deserts, spectacular light, and emotion.nn nnLight in particular can create emotion. I look for light first when making a photograph. Light is photography. During my beginnings as a photographer, I studied every photograph and word written by great photographers like the late Galen Rowell and Ansel Adams. These photographers understood light. They were masters of exploiting light. They knew how to use light to convey the way a place affected them emotionally. They had the ability to understand a scene and translate its emotion to the viewer of their work through the medium of photography. This is what I strive to do.nn nnI created these images using amazing light. I also use 35mm color slide film that I scan and print digitally in my studio. I have made no modifications beyond basic color correction and adjustment for contrast.nn nnI often am thinking about where I will travel to and photograph next. I am always seeking the next great combination of light and place. The process of assembling this collection of images has been quite inspirational to me. It has reminded me that what I seek photographically, I have already found. I call the place home.
