Advanced Digital SLR

If you have taken my DSLR Photography Basics, then you have a good understanding of how to use your camera. Now take the next step and begin using it to create photographs that capture your vision. In this class you will gain a better understanding of working with light and using your camera creatively to develop your personal photographic style. There will be lots of hands on use of your camera as well as those valuable critique sessions youhave come to appreciate. I also offer tips for specific shooting situations and speak about color management and workflow. Although Rich’s Basic class is NOT a pre-requsite, students must be comfortable working their DSLR camera in manual mode.

Mastering Flash Photography

Join Professional Photographer and Instructor Richard Durnan for this half day hands on small strobe lighting workshop. The use of a strobe, often called a flash ,with your SLR camera can be intimidating and filled with disappointing results. Rich will guide you through understanding how small strobes work enabling you to use them with predictable pleasing and often dramatic results. This class will consist of lots of practice time and runs through the evening hours so we can take advantage of the changing ambient light situations at sunset. So bring a snack or eat before coming. Students need to have a DSLR camera and an accessory shoe mount flash unit.

Digital Point and Shoot Photography

This class is for you regardless of your level of experience. Learn the full power of your digital point, and shoot camera. This class is perfect for learning the basics of operating your camera, and for artists that work in other mediums like painters that want to capture images from which to work. Topics covered will include how the camera works, your cameras features, composition for photography, and getting your digital images to print form.

Digital SLR Photography Basics
5 Class Sessions with Week-Long Breaks for Practice

Learn essential photographic skills such as familiarization with your camera’s controls and composition while you will learn how much fun you can have with your camera. This class has been expanded to five evenings and is for beginners and intermediates who want to increase their knowledge of manual SLR camera operation and still photo creation. The course includes an in depth look at how digital cameras work, use of essential controls, and composition. Weekly assignments provide an opportunity for students to critique and learn from each others work. By popular request, Rich has included a new section introducing digital editing and workflow.

Travel & Vacation Photography Seminar

Just in time for spring break and summer vacations, this 2.5 hour seminar is intended for amateur to advanced photographers looking to take their travel photography to the next level.
Great travel photography requires a command of many types of photography: portraits and candids, off-the-hip street photography at festivals and celebrations, architecture and cityscapes, landscapes and nature.

This seminar is intended for amateur to advanced photographers looking to take their photography to the next level. In this comprehensive seminar you will learn photography tips and techniques to improve your wildlife photos.
