A Look Back 2010 in Photos

I felt like I had a fairly diverse year in 2010. I got to do a little national travel and a lot of river trips. My work year was filled with a lot of local work including some studio product photography, weddings, and portraits. I also had a lot of time to pursue some personal photographic projects that amongst other things ended in some new gallery shows.  followers of this blog saw a lot of my work as it was happening. If you missed it not to worry, I have compiled some of my favorites into a slideshow that can be seen below. They are presented in random order. Enjoy and I hope you are part of my 2011 photographic journey.

Kodachrome 1935 – 2010

If you have been reading my blog you will have seen my previous posts Good Bye Kodachrome announcing Kodak’s decision to stop producing the iconic Kodachrome film, and The Last Kodachrome Lab about Dwayne’s Photo in Parsons Kansas, the last Kodak authorized lab to process Kodachrome. Yesterday, December 30, 2010 Dwayne’s Photo processed the last roll of Kodachrome.

Photographer Steve McCurry, whose work has appeared for decades in National Geographic and who made his career shooting Kodachrome, was chosen by Kodak to shoot the last roll of Kodachrome produced. Steve shot half of the roll in New York City, where his office is located, and the other half in India, where many of his most iconic photographs were made. Steve then hand delivered this last roll to Dwayne’s Photo. Check Steve’s blog here to see a nice selection of images from those last 36 frames. Look for a full story featuring these images in National Geographic next spring.

Finally, if you are a nostalgic t-shirt type, Dwayne’s photo is offering, for only $12.95, a commemorative Kodachrome 1935 – 2010 t-shirt.
